This is a parenting and discipline book that I illustrated for Dr Anna Martin, with a surprising amount of creative freedom. Eventually, the publishing rights to what was originally called ’Stop, Think, Engage: Rethinking Child Discipline - Methods That Work’ was bought by Penguin Publishing - which meant having to illustrate the book twice, as Penguin wanted the same comics but with different character designs. This, plus some new strips, was an exhausting feat, but I’m pretty happy about the final product!
I was able to retain my brand of meta humor and cartoon logic despite it being coupled with some pretty heavy almost academic writing - which was kinda the goal in this venture. Anna hoped my illustrations would not only keep attention and be a breather from the amount of text there was, but also try to make light of and almost make fun of parenting and discipline as a whole - to show that we aren't trying to stuff these new parenting tactics down your throat, and tell you what you're doing is wrong.
